Dr. Vivekanand Brahmanand Sharma

Dr. Vivekanand Sharma is a Consultant in Surgical Oncology and Robotic Surgery at Fortis Hospital, Mulund. He has over 15 years of experience, with a special interest in advanced cancers and minimally invasive techniques, such as robotic surgery. He is highly skilled in performing both elective and emergency GI cancer surgeries independently. To date, he has performed over 200 robot-assisted colorectal resections, demonstrating his unparalleled expertise in less invasive surgical techniques. Before joining Fortis, he had worked in high-volume centres, where he helped establish minimally invasive services. His training in both Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, and the UK’s NHS enhanced his ability to manage complex cases, resulting in clinical excellence and improved patient outcomes. He also oversaw the establishment of laparoscopic GI and gynaecologic cancer services to a newly established cancer centre in North India. Holding an MBBS, an MS in General Surgery, and an M.Ch in Surgical Oncology, Dr. Vivekanand Sharma specialises in diagnosing and treating a wide range of cancers. He also completed fellowships in advanced laparoscopy, robotic surgery, and treatment of peritoneal malignancies. Apart from his clinical work, Dr. Vivekanand Sharma is an active leader in research and surgical education, publishing extensively in various journals. He has delivered several oral and poster presentations at national and international conferences. He has also contributed chapters to textbooks for Colon Cancer and Surgical Oncology. He was awarded the prestigious ICENI Fellowships in Robotic and Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery at Colchester General Hospital under Mr. Subash Vasudevan, lead Robotic surgeon, and Mr. Gregory Wynn, ICENI Clinical Director.
