FORTIS HOSPITAL KALYAN HOSTS CANCER SCREENING CAMP IN COLLABORATION WITH KALYAN-DOMBIVLI MUNICIPAL CORPORATION 

~ The camp for KDMC employees and journalists included a basic health check-up, breast cancer screening for women, and oral cancer screening for both men & women~ 

 Mumbai, February 06, 2025: Fortis Hospital Kalyan hosted a comprehensive Cancer screening camp in collaboration with Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) for the municipal corporation employees and journalists today. The aim of this camp was to enhance public health awareness and highlight the importance of early diagnosis of Cancer. The initiative which was hosted at KDMC premises witnessed participation of around 205 individuals (85 men and 120 women). The program was inaugurated by Honorable Dr. Indurani Jakhar, Commissioner, Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation, who was also the chief guest for the event. 

 The screening camp featured a basic health check-up, Breast Cancer screening for women, and Oral Cancer screening for both men and women. The initiative was led by Dr Harshit Shah, Associate Surgical Oncologist & Dr Uma Dangi, Consultant-Medical Oncology, Fortis Hospital Kalyan and they also spoke about various Cancers, signs, symptoms, importance of early and timely diagnosis of the disease, which was followed by addressing queries of the attendees on the subject.  

 The camp was an extension to the ongoing initiative for the Oral Cancer screening program which was successfully conducted on World Cancer Day (Feb 4th 2025), at Bai Rukmini Bai Hospital, Kalyan, which was led by Dr Harshit Shah. This program witnessed participation from 25 individuals, including patients and their relatives who underwent Oral Cancer screening, marking this as the first of many steps to address Cancer prevention within the community.  

 On the occasion, Honorable Dr. Indurani Jakhar, Commissioner, Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation, said, “This cancer screening camp for our employees and journalists will go a long way in empowering them to take control of their health, and we hope this initiative encourages others to prioritize their well-being. Early detection is crucial in the fight against Cancer, and through this initiative, we hope to provide the support and resources necessary for them to live a long and healthy life." 

 Mr. Mohit Wankhade, Facility Director, Fortis Hospital Kalyan, said, “The Cancer screening camp follows Fortis’ ethos of prioritizing preventative healthcare.
