Fortis Hospital Nagarbhavi Restores Shoulder Joint in 57-Year-Old Patient from Channapatna Using Minimally Invasive Surgery 

 - Arthroscopic AC joint reconstruction offers improved diagnosis and treatment with reduced implant-related pain – 

 Channapatna, April 2025Fortis Hospital Nagarbhavi has once again demonstrated its excellence in orthopaedic care by successfully treating a 57-year-old patient from Channapatna with a severe injury in the left shoulder through minimally invasive procedure. The patient underwent arthroscopic AC joint reconstruction surgery performed by Dr. Manjunath Kodihally, Consultant Orthopaedics Fortis Hospital Nagarbhavi and his team. He was discharged just a day post the surgery.  

 Patient Mr. Prakash (name changed), a resident of Channapatna, Karnataka, was experiencing   persistent pain along with difficulty in moving his left shoulder. His condition remained untreated for 10 days. He took multiple over-the-counter pain killers, but he couldn’t find any relief and felt desperate. Finally, he visited Fortis Nagarbhavi in hope of a solution. 

 Upon admission at Fortis Hospital, Nagarbhavi a thorough medical evaluation, revealed that he had a massive fracture in the acromioclavicular (AC) joint of the left shoulder. AC joint is responsible for the gliding and movement of our shoulder. Following a comprehensive clinical evaluation, opinions from cardiologists to ensure surgical fitness, Prakash underwent a left shoulder arthroscopic AC joint reconstruction, ensuring minimal discomfort for the patient. 

 Speaking about the case, Dr. Manjunath Kodihally, Consultant Orthopaedics Fortis Hospital Nagarbhavi, said “Upon Prakash’s arrival, his condition was critical, following the evaluation, we performed the minimally invasive procedure to restore joint stability, alleviate pain, and improve shoulder mobility by repairing damaged ligaments and reinforcing the joint using specialized implants. The minimally invasive technique allowed for reduced surgical trauma, faster recovery, and minimal post-operative discomfort for the patient.” 

 The surgery was successful, and the patient tolerated the procedure well. His post-operative recovery remained uneventful, and he was treated with appropriate medications. He was discharged in a stable condition in a day with post-surgical care instructions for continued recovery.
