Kalyan, July 21st, 2025: Fortis Hospital Kalyan hosted a graduation ceremony today for the inaugural cohort of its clinician-led Quick Response Training (QRT) program – Code QRT, marking a significant step towards empowering first-line practitioners in the region. The graduation ceremony was graced by Hon. Abhinav Goel, Municipal Commissioner of Kalyan-Dombivali Municipal Corporation (KDMC), who lauded the 80 young medicos for successfully completing the intensive training.
Launched on Doctors’ Day, July 1st, 2025, the 15-day Code QRT program is designed to equip first-line practitioners with vital diagnostic and clinical assessment skills, enabling them to provide timely, effective care at their respective centers, and prevent or delay further deterioration before patients are shifted to tertiary care centers. The pilot batch focused on the Kalyan-Dombivali geography, witnessing enthusiastic participation with 80 medical practitioners graduating today.
The program is led by senior clinicians from Fortis Hospitals, including Dr Jumana Haji – Program Director – ECMO, Fortis Hospitals Mumbai & Program Convener; Dr Manjeet Singh – First Aid and BLS & CPR Trainer; Dr Sudhir Gore, HOD-Emergency Medicine; and Dr Manoj Kumar, Consultant-Emergency Medicine, Fortis Hospital Kalyan. With the successful completion of the Code-QRT program, these young clinicians are now better equipped to manage patients effectively at their own centers, ensuring timely interventions and drastically improved outcomes.
Speaking about the initiative, Hon. Abhinav Goel, as the Municipal Commissioner of Kalyan-Dombivali Municipal Corporation (KDMC), said, “The Fortis QRT Program will serve as a bridge between hospitals and frontline workers who are deeply embedded in our communities and are the first line of care. This program has equipped frontline healthcare workers with essential skills, knowledge and confidence to assess, stabilize, and support patients in those crucial first moments of care. By sharing expertise and working collaboratively, the initiative ensures that quality healthcare starts where it matters most, right in the heart of our communities.”
Speaking about the program, Dr Ashutosh Pandey, Facility Director, Fortis Hospital, Kalyan, who conceptualized the initiative, said, “Code QRT is a meaningful step towards strengthening primary care and improving patient outcomes. We are proud to see the first cohort of Code-QRT graduates ready to make a real difference to the community. By equipping them with critical diagnostic and response skills, we’re empowering them to manage patients more effectively and intervene early to prevent deterioration before escalation to tertiary care is required. This program reflects our commitment to strengthening the foundation of healthcare and ensuring that quality care starts at the very first point of contact.”
Fortis plans to expand this program across Mumbai in order to build a more connected healthcare system that truly begins with the people who serve our communities every day.
